New Delhi: India’s largest IT company, Tata Consultancy Services, reportedly intends to lay off almost 12,000 employees in light of its new automation strategy. The move comes with AI and digital tools taking over most of the manual and repetitive tasks.
Sources inform that TCS plans to utilize AI-driven systems for coding, testing, and data analysis in order to further streamline its operations. The company has not issued an official statement on this topic, but reportedly, many of its employees are concerned about their futures.
Once known for employment security, changes in automation have hit the Indian IT industry like a wave. Other technology companies, including Infosys, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra, will also use AI tools that require fewer human workers.
Experts say this shift is both good and bad. On one side, it will make companies faster and more profitable; on the other, it will result in large-scale job losses among mid-level employees.
