New Delhi: TCS CEO K. Krithivasan has made it unequivocally clear that the company is committed to bringing its entire workforce back to the office for work, stating, “We are not proponents of remote work.” Speaking at a recent Nasscom session in Mumbai, Krithivasan emphasized the importance of physical presence in the workplace for individual and organizational growth. He highlighted that crucial learning experiences stem from interactions with colleagues and seniors in the office environment, which cannot be replicated through virtual means such as Zoom calls.
Krithivasan underscored the significance of in-person collaboration and camaraderie, stating that these vital aspects of work culture cannot be fully realized in a remote or hybrid model. He also addressed the issue of newer employees, noting that a substantial percentage (30-40%) had joined TCS during the pandemic. He expressed concerns about their integration into the organizational culture and values if they continue to work remotely.
The CEO emphasized the role of observing senior employees in action as a valuable learning opportunity, which is best facilitated in an office setting. He further stated that TCS’s stance against remote work aligns with the preferences of its clients, as nearly all of them are eager to see their workforce return to the office. Krithivasan concluded by affirming TCS’s belief that working from the office is the most effective approach to work, both for the company and its clients.
