Tata Power Renewable Energy installs 1GWp rooftop solar power plants, reinforces its #1 position

New Delhi: Tata Power’s renewable energy arm ata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), has successfully surpassed a major milestone by installing 1GWp (gigawatt-peak) of rooftop solar power capacity in the first 9 months of 2025, a 127% year on year (YoY) growth from the same period last year. 

Under its Tata Power Solaroof brand, TPREL added more than 1.7 lakh installations thisyear across residential, commercial and industrial clients, taking its total customer base beyond 3 lakh.  In the October-December quarter (Q3FY26), the company added over 58,476 rooftop solar installations alone, an increase of 242% year on year from 17,092 recorded in the same period last year.

Most of the installations were in Uttar Pradesh, followed by Maharashtra and Gujarat, as the power generation company looks to expand solar power adoption under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana (PMSGY) scheme. The company is also actively promoting solar energy adoption through its Ghar Ghar Solar campaign, designed to offer consumers with clean, affordable energy and sustainable power for a greener future. 

Tata Motors Solaroof offers a pan-India presence, with a network of 650+ channel partners to offer scale, consistency and reliability in rooftop solar deployment. The company is now looking to achieve 500GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

As one of India’s leading power generation companies, Tata Power has been working to wean itself off thermal power, reducing its dependance on coal from 44% in 2025 to 30% by 2030.Though TPREL, Tata Power aims to shift focus to clean and green energy, even as the subsidiary has boosted its profits by more than 90% lately.
