Mumbai, October 2: Symbiotec Pharmalab’s shares surged nearly 6% after its wholly owned subsidiary, Knovea Pharmaceuticals, secured an exclusive partnership with a leading unnamed pharma firm to commercialise and distribute two of its injectable products in the United States.
Under the terms of the deal, Knovea Pharmaceuticals will retain full control over the product development, long term manufacturing and regulatory filings for the products while the global partner will be responsible for marketing, sales and commercial distribution across the US healthcare market.
This collaboration is aimed at delivering milestone payments to Knovea across key project phases, including product development, regulatory approvals and initial commercial launches. Once the products enter the U.S. market, Knovea will also receive a recurring share of its profits.
The two products use the Dual Chamber Vial (DCV) technology, an advanced packaging system that keeps liquid diluents and powdered medication separated in a single glass container until the point of administration. The US market for these products is estimated at about $288 million, as per regulatory disclosures by the company.
Highlighting the technical capabilities involved in producing dual chamber injectables, the company leadership has framed the deal as a validation for their long term investments in specialised drug delivery systems.
“This agreement is a defining milestone for Knovea. Our sustained investment in building DCV capabilities end-to-end — from product development and regulatory science to commercial-scale sterile manufacturing — is now paying off, with a leading global pharmaceutical company as our exclusive U.S. partner. This opens a powerful commercial pathway in the world’s largest pharmaceutical market, and it’s only the beginning: we built the DCV platform as a repeatable engine for innovation and expect it to power a growing portfolio of differentiated complex injectables. This agreement strengthens Knovea’s position in complex injectables and opens the door to further collaborations across our differentiated drug-delivery technologies.” Mr. Anil Satwani, Managing Director, Symbiotec Pharmalab, said in a press release.
