Surat: Ravikumar Nair, Head Supply Chain, Reliance Industries Limited, said that 15-20 years ago, a separate supply chain department did not exist in any company. Supply chain is a science in itself and it determines the profitability of the company, complete efficiency comes from it.
Nair was speaking at the informative conclave on the topic of Smart Supply Chain organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI).
Nair mentioned the recent flight crisis and said that this will make the importance of supply chain understood. The National Logistics Policy aims to bring logistics costs to single digits. It emphasizes multi-modal logistics.
Moving goods over 600 km by rail saves costs. Four pillars are important in the supply chain, of which customer and cost are the main ones. He gave guidance on vendors’ portals, automation, tools, pulling vehicle data from ULIP, GPS, AI cameras etc. in the supply chain and emphasized on the use of technology in the supply chain. The supply chain policy of any company should be flexible and dynamic.
Nair answered the questions of the industrialists and businessmen. The Honorary Minister of the Chamber, Shri Bijal Jariwala, conducted the entire program.
