Pune, August 25: Speciality chemical manufacturer Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited has signed an agreement to acquire the aluminium dyes manufacturing plant that produced its flagship Sanodal and Sanodure product lines, offering long term continuity to these brands.
The Pune-based company will be paying CHF 7 million to Clariant Additives (Switzerland) AG for the plant in Reinach, Switzerland, allowing it direct operational control for its flagship brands. This strengthens Sudarshan Chemicals’ backward integration efforts, locks in long term supply continuity and solidifies its market presence across Europe and global specialty pigment markets.
For the company, this also means improving its specialty chemical division margins over the medium term, while helping it gain premium brand equity globally.
“We have depended on this site for years. Now we own it. That means we control the process, the capacity, and we can plan the next generation of these products on our own timetable. For customers in this segment, nothing changes except our ability to commit. This is an important step forward because it gives us better control on the processes and a possibility for future innovations.” Rajesh Rathi, Chairman and Managing Director, Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited, said in a press release.
“Transferring these assets to Sudarshan is the right outcome for the Muttenz production facility and its employees. With Sudarshan, we have found a buyer who knows this operation well. Furthermore, the company has great interest in taking on employees and giving them a new home, ” Angela Cackovich, BU President Adsorbents & Additives, Clariant International Ltd added.
