Hyderabad: Sigma Advanced Systems, a subsidiary of Megasoft Limited, has signed a seven year agreement with Rolls Royce valued at £300 million (roughly Rs 3800 cr), to supply critical aero-engine components for Rolls Royce’s civil and defence aerospace programs.
This deal remains marks the Hyderabad-based company’s success in moving toward becoming an integrated global supplier, rather than a location specific one, with production spread across India and the UK.
Strengthening the Global Supply Chain
Under the deal, Sigma will manufacture and supply high precision components vital for the efficiency and performance of modern jet engines, while allowing Rolls Royce to diversify its supply chain. Sigma will use advanced manufacturing processes, including 5 axis machining and specialised thermal treatments to match stringent standards needed for flight-critical hardware.
A “Make in India” Milestone
This agreement will boost India’s position in the aerospace supply chain and help Sigma meet PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. The agreement will help Sigma take on larger and more complex roles in the aerospace supply chain, boosted by its recent acquisitions of Delhi-based AS Strategic and UK-based Nasmyth Group.
