SGCCI organises 9th National HR Conclave 2025

“Society needs sensitive and thoughtful human beings, not robots, a true leader creates a sustainable system that keeps the organization strong even after him,” Indian Navy Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Shri Dinesh K. Tripathi

Surat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the 9th National HR Conclave at Platinum Hall, Sarsana, Surat, in which Indian Navy Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral  Dinesh K. Tripathi was present as the chief guest and gave guidance on leadership to entrepreneurs and HR professionals of Surat.

Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi said that the Indian Navy prepares leaders from a young age, who explain the importance of time and responsibility in life. In the Navy, people not only follow the leader, but also instill discipline, thoughtfulness and decision-making from him. The training model of leadership in the Navy is based on the scientific and mathematical approach. The leader especially emphasizes on clear communication, risk-taking ability and decision-making process after proper deliberation. Before taking any decision, special attention is paid to how its impact will be felt till the last person in the entire chain.

Explaining about the ‘Banyan Tree Funda’, he said that just as a banyan tree provides shade to people, similarly a good leader provides security and trust to his team. A leader takes every member of the team along and keeps the spirit of involving everyone. A true leader creates a sustainable system that will keep the organization strong even after him. An effective leader manages by delegating about 70 percent of his work, so that a sense of responsibility develops in the team and leadership skills emerge.

Admiral Tripathi further said that a leader always moves forward with a flexible mindset and his vision must be clear. For this, continuous quality learning is essential. Stating that society needs sensitive and thoughtful human beings, not robots, he advised entrepreneurs, HR professionals and students to read more and more books.

In this conclave, Lakshmi C., Senior MD and CHRO of Accenture India, Arun Ramchandani, Senior Vice President and Head of L&T Pressure Engineering and Systems and Pushkaraj Bidwai, CEO of People Matters
were present as special guests in the conclave. Dr. Chetan Seth, Chairman and Managing Director of Solex Energy Limited was present as a speaker.

Lakshmi C., Senior MD and CHRO of Accenture India was present as special guest. She said about Values Over Velocity: Building Ethical Cultures in a High-Speed Business World that HR leaders create a strong ethical culture in the organization, in which employees can speak up fearlessly, accept responsibility and work in alignment with the purpose of the organization. Stating that the role of leadership is important here, he said that a leader should provide a living example of values through his behavior. HR professionals in organizations maintain values by creating balance.

Speaking on ‘Planet Positive Business: Building Sustainable Workplaces for a Better Tomorrow’, Arun Ramchandani, Senior Vice President and Head, L&T Pressure Engineering and Systems, said that today, along
with business growth, it has become imperative to fulfill responsibility towards the environment. Sustainable workplaces play a vital role in increasing the health, safety and productivity of employees. Through green infrastructure, effective use of technology and sensitivity towards the environment, organizations can prepare a strong foundation for the future. Today’s decisions will shape the times to come. Therefore, striking a balance between environment, people and profits with a long-term view is a good and responsible business model.

Pushkaraj Bidwai, CEO, People Matters was the special guest at the conclave. Speaking on ‘Profit with Purpose: Redefining People Strategy for the Future’, he said that organizations should focus on employee engagement, skill development and leadership pipeline. When employees are connected to the purpose of the organization, productivity, innovation and trust naturally increase. He said that the successful organizations of the future will be those that will keep human resources at the center along with business growth. It is necessary to re-plan the people strategy with this understanding that people are not just an expense, but the biggest asset of the organization.

Dr. Chetan Sheth, Chairman and Managing Director, Solex Energy Limited, gave a detailed explanation on HR as a Strategic Business Partner. He said that in today’s competitive business environment, the
Human Resource department is no longer limited to administrative functions, but is playing a vital role as a strategic business partner of the organization. To achieve the goals of the organization, HR needs to work with business understanding and a data-driven approach. Through proper talent management, skill development and performance appraisal, HR can directly contribute to business growth.
