Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar is all set to get ‘International Medicity’ on the lines of Dubai Healthcare City to be established near Kalol with an investment of Rs. 13,000 crore, which will make Gandhinagar a leader on the world health map.
The announcement was made by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Jayanti Ravi on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day celebrations at Gandhinagar.
Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Jayanti Ravi said that this land is associated with the name of Mahatma Gandhi, who always inspires us to walk on the path of truth, non-violence and good governance. Today is an occasion to remember the historic day of 26 January 1950 when we adopted our Constitution as the world’s largest democracy. This Constitution is not just a collection of laws, but a document of dreams and equality of every Indian. Today, when we are living in this era of freedom, the sacrifices of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and our freedom fighters cannot be forgotten. It is because of their foresight that today India is moving firmly towards becoming a ‘Vishvaguru’.
She said that Gandhinagar is conquering new horizons of development. Gandhinagar is not only the capital of Gujarat, but it is a combination of modernity and sophistication. This city, which has the identity of a green city, has today become a center of technology, education and good governance. Our Gandhinagar taluka and district have been leading in education, health and infrastructure facilities.
She said that the budget of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, which was only Rs. 7 crore in the year 2010, has crossed Rs. 1,700 crore today. This is proof of the firm determination of the government of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel for public welfare.
Dr. Ravi said that Gandhinagar is now becoming a ‘smart city’ in the true sense through the four-laning of Pethapur-Mahudi Road, new railway overbridge and smart drainage system in sectors.
Gandhinagar district is becoming an IT and biotech hub. At the same time, a new sports complex is being built in the district with the goal of the 2036 Olympics. Gujarat is leading the way in providing energy security to the country. Gujarat has become India’s ‘petrochemical hub’ and ‘green energy capital’.
She said that we are generating pollution-free energy in the state through solar and wind energy. The world’s largest hybrid renewable energy park being built in the Rann of Kutch is a symbol of India’s power. Under the Prime Minister’s Kusum Yojana, our farmers are now becoming ‘energy donors’ along with ‘food donors’. They are generating their own electricity by installing solar panels in their fields.
The way global investment is coming to GIFT City on the outskirts of Gandhinagar is giving a new impetus to the economic development of our district and state.
Behind all these achievements is the sweat of our workers, engineers and the general public of Gujarat. This is true patriotism that we make the best use of our resources and make the nation more self-reliant, he added.
If we look at the achievements of various departments of Gandhinagar district, health services have been seen here performing excellent work of human service.
Under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, more than 1.56 lakh beneficiaries of Gandhinagar district have been covered for Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana cards. Under this scheme, a total of 9,692 claims have been made, and a total of 31.18 crores of treatment has been provided to citizens.
Under Pradhan Mantri Matruvandana Yojana 2.0, a total of more than Rs. 2.49 crores have been provided to 5,550 pregnant women from April 2025 to January 2026 this year and 8,452 pregnant women in 2024-2025. Under Namoshree Yojana, a total of Rs. 3.87 crores have been provided to 6,463 pregnant women in the current year 2025-26.
She said that Gandhinagar district has been at the forefront in developing employment opportunities for the youth. A total of 45 recruitment fairs were organized by the District Employment Office, out of which a total of 3,386 candidates were selected. The state government is always firm in protecting, protecting and assisting the self-respect of women. In the last one year, a total of Rs. 76.13 crore has been paid directly to the bank accounts of approximately 50,756 Ganga women at the rate of Rs. 1,250 per beneficiary per month.
Apart from this, applications of a total of 899 beneficiary daughters have been approved in Gandhinagar district under the “Vhali Dikari Yojana”. In which a total amount of Rs. 9.89 crore will be paid directly to the bank accounts of these daughters through DBT in the future.
Moreover, today Indian Ayurveda medicine has become famous globally as a traditional powerful treatment, while during the year in the district, more than 1.43 lakh patients have benefited from Ayurveda OPD, 15,504 citizens have benefited from nature testing and more than 1.56 lakh citizens have benefited from yoga.
