Rajkot: The upsurge in Rajkot’s economy and the improved lifestyle of its denizens could be clearly seen from the figures emerging out of the automobile sector. According to the details released by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), 42,000 new vehicles were purchased in the last nine months in 2025 with a total value of more than Rs 1,063 crore.
The RMC’s coffers have been filled with a whopping amount of lifetime vehicle tax on the 42,000 new vehicles at Rs 22 crore. This year, there has been a significant increase in both vehicle sales and tax revenue compared to last year.
According to the figures of the RMC’s tax collection branch, during the period from April to December of the year 2024, the municipal corporation earned a revenue of Rs. 20 crore from the sale of 37,928 vehicles worth Rs. 963.49 crore. In comparison, in the same period of the year 2025, 42,000 vehicles worth Rs. 1,063 crore were sold. Thus, 4,072 more vehicles have been purchased this year than last year and the income of the municipality has also increased by Rs. 1.65 crore. There has been a jump of about Rs. 99.56 crore in the sale of vehicles, which shows the boom in the automobile market.
