PlastIndia 2026 ‘Bharat Next’ Unveiled in Ahmedabad, Targets $50 Billion Plastics Industry

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad witnessed the presence of industrialists connected with the plastic industry from Gujarat and other states in the country at the PlastIndia-2026 ‘Bharat Next’ program, held in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi.

The objective of this program was to gather the stakeholders of Gujarat’s plastics manufacturing sector and present the future development vision of this industry. The ‘Bharat Next’ roadmap was unveiled during the program, in which a target has been set to take the valuation of India’s plastics industry to $50 billion by 2026.

Industrialists from various states were present at the program organized as part of PlastIndia 2026, which is scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from 5th to 10th February. Gujarat’s role as a major contributor to India’s plastics production, processing and exports was the focus of the discussion, with emphasis on the state’s integrated petrochemical base and established production clusters.

The plastics sector in India has grown steadily over the last decade, growing from approximately $15 billion in 2010 to more than $37 billion by 2023. Currently, exports are around $10 billion and are expected to reach $15 billion by 2026. PLASTINDIA 2026 is positioned as a premier venue for manufacturers, processors, technology providers and buyers from India and abroad.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi congratulated the organizers for organizing the world’s largest plastic exhibition on 80,000 square meters of land in India. Welcoming the industrialists of the plastic industry, he said that when businessmen invest, they invest keeping security and returns in mind. He added that industries in Gujarat get a very good environment, security and good returns, and hence called for starting plastic industry operations in Gujarat.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the rupees invested will be safe in Gujarat and will give very good returns. He added that Gujarat is the only state in the history of the country which has cleared the maximum number of files and paid subsidies to MSME industries in just 90 days. The state government is working towards ensuring that traders get subsidies quickly and that the youth of the state get new employment. He requested businessmen to participate in the development of the state by providing benefits of various government schemes to the people associated with them.

Ravish Kamath, President, PlastIndia Foundation, said, “The Indian economy is on track to reach $30 trillion by 2047. The plastics sector will be the main engine of this growth. Gujarat is poised to take advantage of this expansion with its highly developed petrochemical infrastructure and processing capabilities in hubs like Rajkot, Halol and Vapi. PlastIndia 2026 will be a gateway for Gujarat manufacturers to access global agreements and technology partnerships.”

Alok Tybarwala, Chairman, National Executive Council, PlastIndia Foundation, said, “Global supply chains are being realigned, and the world is looking to India for reliable, high-quality products. With 2000+ exhibitors and over 6 lakh visitors, PlastIndia 2026 provides the scale to show that Indian manufacturers are ready to meet global demand. For Gujarat’s industrialists, local dominance this is the best place to move towards global leadership.”
