New Delhi: Ranjit Shahani, the former Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Novartis India, as well as the Chairman of JB Pharmaceuticals, has sadly passed away.
Shahani, who held a mechanical engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and an MBA from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai, served in various capacities at Novartis India Ltd. from 2001 to 2018.
He began his career at Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) in India before moving on to become General Manager at ICI Zeneca in the U.K., where he oversaw operations in the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions for their petrochemicals and plastics division. Subsequently, he served as CEO at Roche Products Limited before joining Novartis India Limited in 1997.
Shahani was involved in several leadership roles, including President Emeritus of the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India and President of the Swiss Indian Chamber of Commerce India. He also served on the Advisory Council of HSPH India Research Centre. Furthermore, he held the position of Chairman at JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals and served as a director on the boards of Hikal and other companies.
