NSE IPO Opens Today: Price, Lot Size and Key Dates

New Delhi: The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has opened its much-awaited initial public offering (IPO) for public subscription on Thursday, September 17. The IPO will remain open until September 21, giving investors five days to place their bids.

The NSE IPO has a price band of ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per equity share and an issue size of about ₹22,561.57 crore. The offering is entirely an offer for sale (OFS), meaning the shares being sold are held by existing shareholders and NSE itself will not receive the proceeds from the public issue.

NSE IPO: Key details for investors

The issue involves the sale of up to 12.64 crore equity shares by existing shareholders. Since it is an OFS, the proceeds from the sale will go to the shareholders selling their shares rather than to NSE for business expansion or other corporate purposes.

The minimum lot size for the IPO is eight shares. At the upper end of the price band, an investor applying for one lot would need ₹14,280.

The IPO has reserved up to 50% of the net offer for qualified institutional buyers (QIBs), while 15% is reserved for non-institutional investors (NIIs) and 35% for retail investors.

For retail investors, the lot size is therefore an important consideration because the minimum application at the upper price band requires ₹14,280.

NSE IPO anchor investors raise ₹6,746 crore

Ahead of the public issue, NSE raised ₹6,746.18 crore from anchor investors at ₹1,785 per share, the upper end of the IPO price band.

The exchange allocated 3,77,93,739 equity shares to 189 anchor investors. The anchor book included domestic and overseas institutional investors, with foreign portfolio investors accounting for ₹2,883 crore, or 43% of the anchor allocation.

Major investors in the anchor book included Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Government Pension Fund Global, Monetary Authority of Singapore, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Fidelity, among others.

The anchor allocation came before the IPO opened for public subscription and is separate from the bidding process for retail and other public investors.

NSE IPO allotment and listing dates

The NSE IPO will remain open for subscription until September 21. The basis of allotment is scheduled to be finalised on September 22.

For investors who receive an allotment, the shares are scheduled to be credited to their demat accounts on September 23. Refunds for unsuccessful applicants are also scheduled to begin on September 23.

The shares are scheduled to list on September 24, subject to the applicable listing process.
