Mumbai: India’s leading manufacturer of high-performance bearings for the automotive and industrial verticals, NRB Bearings Limited (NRB), has announced the acquisition of Mahant Tool Room (MTR) as the company looks to expand beyond its core competencies. With this acquisition, NRB Bearings gains access to a $16 billion market for critical components like landing gear parts, fuel injection systems, emergency doors and plain spherical bearings.
This comes on the heels of the company establishing an industrial bearings and friction solutions joint venture, with the acquisition boosting the company’s position in the precision engineering sector, even as MTR has achieved the AS9100D certification for aviation manufacturing, a feat that sweetens the acquisition for NRB Bearings.
With this, NRB is looking to double its revenue by 2031 by deploying a capital-efficient plug-and-play model, where it will leverage its deep relationships with global OEMs to unlock commercial aerospace and defense opportunities for its various segments.
“We are pleased to announce the successful completion of our acquisition of Mahant Tool Room (MTR). This marks a defining milestone in NRB Group’s strategic expansion. Achieving the AS9100D certification alongside closing this acquisition is a pathbreaking milestone. It paves the way for exponential growth, allowing us to offer our range of high-performance, mission-critical precision components and aerospace bearings to the world’s most demanding aerospace and defence companies. As the only Indian company offering such advanced bearings to the global aerospace industry, we are firmly on an accelerated path to unlocking long-term, sustainable value for our stakeholders.” Harshbeena Zaveri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director, NRB Bearings Limited, said in a press release.
