Nikhil Kamath Shares His Vision for India’s Next Startup Wave

New Delhi: Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath believes India’s next startup wave will be driven by innovation, deep technology, artificial intelligence, manufacturing, climate solutions, and businesses solving real-world problems rather than simply chasing rapid growth.

Speaking at recent business events and through his popular podcast series, Kamath said India’s startup ecosystem has matured significantly over the past decade. Instead of focusing only on high valuations, future entrepreneurs are expected to build sustainable companies with strong business models and long-term profitability.

According to Kamath, India has several advantages that support startup growth, including a large young population, increasing internet penetration, digital payments, affordable smartphones, and government initiatives such as Startup India and Digital India. These factors have helped India become one of the world’s largest startup ecosystems, with over 100,000 DPIIT-recognized startups and more than 100 unicorns.

Kamath believes artificial intelligence will become one of the biggest opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs. Startups using AI to improve healthcare, education, financial services, agriculture, logistics, manufacturing, and customer service are expected to attract significant investment over the coming years.

He has also encouraged founders to focus on solving meaningful problems instead of copying existing business models. According to him, long-term success comes from building products that create real value for customers while maintaining financial discipline.

Through his investment platform and podcast, Kamath regularly supports entrepreneurs, founders, investors, and innovators by discussing business strategies, leadership, technology, and economic trends. His conversations with industry leaders have gained widespread attention within India’s startup community.
