New deal of Microsoft and OpenAI, OpenAI is worth ₹41.6 lakh crore

New Delhi: Microsoft and OpenAI commade a big new deal, which shocked many individuals across the globe. The agreement states that the company, which created ChatGPT, is currently estimated at approximately ₹41.6 lakh crore. This is an indicator that investors consider OpenAI to be among the most valuable technology firms in the present day.

In this new plan OpenAI will transform its organization and become a public benefit corporation. This will ensure that it functions as a business and continues making profits, but will also strive to make society a better place. The existing non-profit division of OpenAI will be renamed the OpenAI Foundation that will retain certain leverage over the corporation. This new architecture will assist OpenAI to attract additional funds and expand quicker.

In the deal, Microsoft will have approximately 27 % of OpenAI. The new value of the company puts its share at approximately $135 billion. Microsoft had been a long time back supporting OpenAI through massive investments and offering its cloud services. This would provide Microsoft with a long-term and solid relationship with OpenAI.

There is also a big promise to the deal involving the two companies. The OpenAI will purchase cloud services that are in large quantity in the platform of Microsoft, Azure. This is reported to be worth approximately $250 billion in the long-run. Microsoft, in its turn, will still have access to the OpenAI technology and AI models, which it could incorporate into its own products such as Microsoft Office, windows, and Copilot. This will result in a substantial business to Microsoft cloud division.

The announcement caused the stock price of Microsoft to soar by over 4%. Investors were happy as the relationship between Microsoft and OpenAI would be further boosted. The analysts claimed that the acquisition places Microsoft in a better place in the AI market and that OpenAI is better positioned in terms of finances and stability.

It also has special provisions regarding the development of extremely powerful AI systems, also known as AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). Any claims made will be assessed by an independent team in case openai claims it has achieved AGI. The reason why this is done is to ensure that AI is safe and responsible. There was also information that the leaders of OpenAI, such as Sam Altman, will not receive any additional ownership in the company with this deal. This indicates that the deal is more concerned with long-term development and security than individual self interest.

There are varying views concerning this change by different people. They think that this agreement will provide OpenAI with the required money and resources to develop quickly and continue dominating the AI market. Another thing they say about Microsoft is that it is worth a large portion since it has been supporting OpenAI over the years. However, critics are concerned that such concentration in the hands of a single firm might decrease the levels of transparency and make small AI firms more difficult to compete with. Most analysts express that they would also monitor keenly how OpenAI would continue keeping its word to serve the common good.

As a normal user, this deal will not alter matters immediately, but massive changes might happen later. OpenAI will possess additional funds to enhance ChatGPT and create new AI devices. These tools can be applied by Microsoft in its products which people use daily such as word, excel, PowerPoint and windows. It may simplify and accelerate working on a daily basis, studies, and creative work.
