Neuland expands peptide manufacturing to meet rising pharma demand

Hyderabad, September 15: Neuland Laboratories Limited, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer specializing in complex active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), has announced a major expansion of its peptide manufacturing capabilities. With demand for peptide-based therapeutics on the rise, the company has successfully operationalized a new 7,000L reactor capacity module, with three additional modules currently in various stages of implementation.

Peptides are crucial in the pharmaceutical sector, particularly for manufacturing metabolic, oncologic and other chronic diseases. To cater to this, Neuland has shifted toward a complex, large scale production facilities, investing in a 7,000L reactor module for peptide synthesis, making it a key player in the large scale peptide market.

With an investment of $30 million, the newly operational module will work to handle complex chemical synthesis and purification processes at scale, to meet stringent regulatory standards. Along with this, three more modules are in various stages of implementation, with module 2 offering an overall reactor capacity of up to 18,000L and module three offering a 5,000L LPPS reactor along with smaller ones for supporting a broader range of peptide programmes and production scales.

“Our goal is to ensure we have the capacity to meet customer demand not just over the next 24 months, but over the next decade, as we deepen our strategic partnerships with leading pharma and biotech companies,” Saharsh Davuluri, Neuland CEO & MD, said in a press release.
