Mukesh Ambani set to gain big as China slows down solar race
New Delhi: Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Finds Big Opportunity in China’s Solar Shift Sometimes luck is about being at the right place at the right time. And that’s exactly what’s happening with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries.
China, which dominates the global solar supply chain, is now changing its strategy. For years, Chinese companies kept producing more and more solar material (like polysilicon), even when profits were falling. This is called “involution”, a race where everyone runs faster, but nobody really wins.
Now, China has decided to slow things down with “anti-involution” policies. That means less cutthroat competition, better prices, and a healthier market. And for Reliance, this change could not have come at a better time.
Reliance’s green energy vision:
At Reliance’s AGM on August 29, Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani spoke about building the world’s most integrated new energy ecosystem. The idea is simple but powerful: keep hydrocarbons (oil-to-chemicals) alive for India’s needs, while also investing heavily in clean energy for the future.
It’s like Reliance is standing on two strong legs, one in the present, one in the future.
 Why analysts are excited:
Big names on Dalal Street are suddenly very bullish on Reliance’s green plan:
Energy costs may fall by 40% by 2030 thanks to China’s solar supply cuts. Reliance’s new-energy arm could contribute 13% of total revenue by 2027. Morgan Stanley says Reliance’s net asset value might rise by $20 billion, and 2028 earnings could jump by 1%, their target price for Reliance stock is now ₹1,701—26% higher than current levels, nuvama went a step further, giving a ₹1,733 price target, calling it a “multi-decadal opportunity.”
