Microsoft warns Indian users as Windows 10 support nears its end

New Delhi: The clock is ticking for Windows 10 users in India, as official support for the operating system is ending this month. This leaves millions of PC users with two main choices: either pay for updates to keep using Windows 10 or upgrade to a newer Windows 11 PC.

Microsoft acknowledges that this change could be a big shift for many, potentially leaving their systems vulnerable if they stick with Windows 10. However, the company has offered only a few options, most of which involve spending some money.

There is a way to get a Windows 10 update for free, but it comes with certain conditions, and not everyone may feel comfortable trying it. According to Microsoft, users can also opt for a one-year extended support, which costs around $30 (roughly ₹2,550). While this is not very expensive, it remains to be seen how many Indian users will choose this route.

Many users still rely heavily on Windows 10, which is why Microsoft has decided to offer these extensions. Buying a brand-new Windows 11 PC with the latest hardware isn’t cheap, so paying a small fee to continue using Windows 10 could be a practical solution until newer devices become more affordable.
