MCX to remain in focus as Q3 PAT jumps 151% on the back of stronger trade volumes

Mumbai: Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (MCX), responsible for commodities trading in India, has reported strong third-quarter results, with an almost 151% increase in Profit After Tax (PAT) to ₹401 crore. The company has witnessed strong trading volumes lately, mostly on the back of relaxed commodity derivatives participation and margin structures, boosting its income from ₹324 crore in Q3 FY25 to ₹697 crore this time, a 115% increase.

Over the first 9 months of FY26, the company’s operating income increased to ₹1,413 crore, a 69% increase from ₹821 crore recorded for the corresponding quarter last year. The company has witnessed options-led growth mostly on the back of its monopoly in commodity trading. Relaxed distribution rules have allowed banks to serve as professional clearing members (PCM), helping to increase the total authorised participants to 32,716 as of December 31, 2025.

“It gives me great pleasure to share our results for Q3 of FY 2026. This quarter’s results underscore our continued momentum and deepening participation across segments. Guided by the highest level of governance and compliance, we are enhancing product breadth and operational readiness for growth, delivering value to hedgers, investors and members while shaping the future of commodity derivatives,” Praveena Rai, Managing Director & CEO, MCX, said.

MCX’s shares have risen to ₹2,396 a piece on January 27, rising 5% from the previous day. The company remains a shareholder favourite, as its shares have risen almost 115% over the past year.
