Mumbai: Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) has announced a significant expansion of its iron ore pellet plant at Konsari in Gadchiroli in Maharashtra. This would strengthen its production capabilities, as this would be the second 4 MTPA pellet plant at Konsari. With the first plant already operating at 100% utilization, this doubles Lloyds’ metals’ total pellet capacity to 8 MTPA, solidifying its position amongst merchant pellet producers.
Fast-Track Execution: A 16-Month Timeline
The company managed to construct and commission the second unit in a record 16 months from the date of commencement, a game changing achievement. This swiftness is strengthened by the completion of its 85 km captive iron ore slurry pipeline from its Surjagarh mine in June 2025. This regular supply will help cut costs and boost production for the company, which will be looking at producing high-quality, premium-grade pellets in both domestic and global merchant markets.
With this, LMEL aims to build an integrated, end-to-end steel value chain. It aims to leverage its execution capabilities, long-term vision and responsible and efficient growth to build infrastructure that is resilient and cost-competitive for India’s expanding steel demand, the company said in a press release.
