Kumar Mangalam Birla Says India’s Growth Remains a Rare Constant Amid Global Economic Uncertainty

New Delhi: Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla has described India’s economic growth as one of the few stable factors in an increasingly uncertain global environment.

In his latest annual reflections, Birla said the world is going through a period of major political and economic change. Trade relationships are shifting, geopolitical tensions are affecting business decisions and governments are increasingly relying on deals rather than long-standing international arrangements.

Against that background, he identified India’s growth as a “durable constant”, a notable statement from one of India’s largest business leaders.

Birla’s assessment comes as businesses globally face a more complicated environment. Companies are dealing with changing trade policies, geopolitical risks, supply-chain adjustments and uncertainty over interest rates and investment.

He has described the current global environment as “U3” uncertain, unpredictable and unorthodox. According to Birla, these conditions are not temporary disruptions but signs of a broader change in the way countries and economies interact.

For India, however, the picture looks different. The country continues to benefit from strong domestic demand, infrastructure investment, digital adoption and a large consumer market. Government spending on roads, railways, airports and other infrastructure has also helped maintain economic activity.

India’s position has attracted greater attention from multinational companies looking to diversify manufacturing and supply chains. The country’s growing digital economy and expanding middle class are additional factors supporting long-term business opportunities.
