New Delhi: Karnataka has given a big boost to its startup culture by clearing a major ₹518 crore plan aimed at helping young entrepreneurs and innovators. The state, especially Bengaluru, is considered India’s biggest startup hub, and this new decision shows that it wants to stay ahead in the race of innovation and technology.
Accordingly, the new policy is likely to support about 10,000 startups over the next few years. The support will involve funding, grants, mentorship programs, and incubation support. Special support shall be provided for startups working in areas like AI, agriculture technology, clean energy, healthcare, deep tech, and education technology. Most young students and early-stage founders lack money and guidance; this policy aims at solving these problems.
Quite another key part of the plan is its focus on smaller cities in Karnataka. The government wants to make places like Mysuru, Hubballi, Belagavi, and Mangaluru strong mini-hubs for startups. This will give young people outside Bengaluru more opportunities to start their ventures without having to migrate to bigger cities.
The plan also includes innovation labs inside colleges where students can experiment with robotics, AI tools, and new technologies to turn those classroom ideas into real products. It will make the startup world more equal and inclusive by providing support to women entrepreneurs.
Experts believe this ₹518 crore fund will also create thousands of jobs.
