New Delhi: Tim Cook, who has served as CEO for almost 15 years, is about to enter a new phase of leadership at Apple. John Ternus has replaced Apple’s previous CEO since September 1, 2026. Cook will not be completely removed from Apple, remaining executive chairman of the company.
Ternus is one of the most senior executives at Apple, who were at the company since 2001, and most recently served as senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. He has had a hands-on experience with the development of products like the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods. With his solid hardware roots, he might offer a different approach to Apple than Cook, who is known for his operations and business approach.
A bigger focus on new products
The changes may include the way Apple approaches hardware. Ternus has worked directly on Apple’s products and engineering teams throughout most of his career. This may be an increased drive for new devices and major hardware upgrades.
It’s already known that Apple will venture into new product categories and technologies.
