New Delhi: IndiGo, one of India’s biggest airlines, has been named among the worst-performing airlines globally in the 2024 AirHelp Score report. This report, put together by AirHelp Inc., looks at things like how airlines handle customer complaints, flight punctuality, and passenger feedback on food, comfort, and service.
IndiGo landed in 103rd place out of 109 airlines, putting it in the bottom group alongside other struggling carriers. The worst airline this year was Tunisair, followed by Ryanair and Aer Lingus. The rankings are based on data collected between January and October, giving a full picture of airline performance.
AirHelp looks at customer complaints about delays, cancellations, and lost luggage, along with how often flights run on time. Tomasz Pawliszyn, CEO of AirHelp, said the goal is to show how airlines are doing from the passengers’ point of view and push them to improve.
While IndiGo had a tough year, Brussels Airlines was named the best airline in the world for 2024, moving up from 12th place last year. Qatar Airways came in second, followed by American Airlines and United Airlines in third and fourth places. These rankings might surprise some, given the issues these airlines also faced last year.
The bottom ten airlines in the AirHelp Score report include:
- Sky Express
- Air Mauritius
- Tarom
- IndiGo
- Pegasus Airlines
- El Al Israel Airlines
- Bulgaria Air
- Nouvelair
- Buzz
- Tunisair
The report also showed some airlines slipping in rankings. For example, Delta Air Lines dropped from 11th to 17th place because of issues handling claims, even though it stayed consistent in other areas like punctuality. Alaska Airlines also fell over 30 places, possibly due to its merger with Hawaiian Holdings Inc.
