New Delhi: Direct tax collection has shown a growth of over 15 percent this year, reflecting strong business activity and improvement in the country’s tax compliance. Income tax and corporate tax are two big components of direct taxes, which are a significant source of revenue for the government.
The rise reflects an increase in the incomes and profits of more people and companies. It also indicates that the government’s efforts to make tax filing simpler, through online systems, simplified rules, and awareness programs, are bearing fruit.
Officials say this rise is indicative of a healthy economy. As businesses grow, they hire people, which in turn means more tax collections. Startups and small businesses also contributed to the growth, indicating entrepreneurship is expanding in India.
Another reason for the rise is better digital tracking systems. With more online transactions, tax evasion becomes harder. The government has taken strict action against fraudulent companies and fake filings.
