Belagavi, August 27: Hindalco Industries Limited has officially commissioned India’s first greenfield superfine Precipitated Aluminium Trihydrate (PPT ATH) manufacturing facility at its Belagavi plant in Karnataka. With this plant, India no longer needs to import this critical material, mostly from China, strenghtening the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make In India initiatives.
Precipitated Aluminium Trihydrate (PPT ATH) is an essential halogen-free flame retardant and smoke suppressant widely used in wire and cable manufacturing, polymer compounds and high voltage electrical insulation systems. With this plant, Hindalco will be supplying 30,000 tonnes of the material in Phase 1, with a planned expansion of up to 60,000 tonnes, enabling Hindalco to scale capacity in line with domestic market growth.
According to Hindalco, this plant is expected to cater to almost the entire domestic demand for safer cables from the wire and cable industry, aligning with the upgraded BIS IS 17048:2018 standards for HFFR cables by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
