Surat: The textile entrepreneurs in the country’s largest man-made fibre (MMF) sector are elated after the Gujarat Government has taken a decision for providing huge benefits to the sector under the Textile policy 2024.
According to the Textile Policy 2024, garment, apparel, made-ups, embroidery, texture, airjet units in urban areas will get the benefits under the textile policy. When the state government announced ‘Gujarat Textile Policy-2024’, it was decided that only those units which are set up outside the urban area will get the benefit of this textile policy. Textile industrialists are also turning towards the garment industry, due to which the Surat industry will get the biggest benefit of this decision of the government.
What will be the benefit of this decision
- Acceleration of new investments: Units can be set up in the city itself, which will reduce the cost of land purchase and relocation.
- Big relief for MSME and small units: Labor-intensive units like garment, stitching, embroidery will get direct benefits.
- Infrastructure already available: Facilities like electricity, water, roads, sewerage and transport are ready in the city, so production will start quickly.
- Skilled manpower will be easily available: Tailors, artisans, operators, technicians will be easily available in urban areas.
- Proximity to logistics and markets: Delivery time will be reduced due to proximity to transport, ports and markets.
- Incentive to increase the capacity of units: Urban units will now be able to invest in modern machinery by taking advantage of the policy.
- Increase in employment generation: More employment will be created in cities.
Small industries to benefit from this decision
“Recognition of non-polluting textile activities in urban areas will lead to establishment of micro, small and medium industries. The infrastructure facilities available in the corporation area will be effectively utilized, which will reduce the cost of production” said Mayur Golwala, leader of powerloom industry.
