New Delhi: In October 2025, Google officially declared that the corporation will invest $15 billion to construct a 1 GW hyperscale AI information centre in Visakhapatnam by highlighting one of its biggest foreign direct investments in technology in India.
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, has also been planned to lay the stone of this project tomorrow (April 28) by signaling its a big push to make the state the global center of digital infrastructure. It is also suggested that the facility will also cover an area of almost 600 acres in Tarluwada, Adavivaram and Rambilli, and will also be a hyperscale AI data centre with 1GW capacity.
This project will scale among the largest data center investments globally, by reflecting the arising demand for computing power driven by AI and cloud services. This data centre will going to supported by subsea cable connectivity, by allowing it direct digital links between Visakhapatnam and multiple international markets.
Andhra Pradesh government has positioned the project as part of its broader strategy to attract large-scale investments under its Speed of Doing Business policy.
After this project, Visakhapatnam will no longer be just a Port City; it will be recognized globally as Data City, and the investment will create opportunities and jobs while strengthening the state’s global standing.
This project is expected to generate thousands of jobs across AI, cloud operations, cybersecurity, data science, and infrastructure management. It also partnered with AdaniConneX and Airtel Nxtra, which are part of the broader ecosystem supporting the initiative.
State government is also working towards building a multi-gigawatt digital infrastructure network with a planned capacity of 6.5 GW, focused on creating a wider AI and data center ecosystem.
