New Delhi: In a significant move to spur women entrepreneurship in India, Goldman Sachs has joined hands with the top Indian Institutes of Management to advance training for women who want to either set up or grow their businesses. This tie-up is likely to help more women break barriers, gain confidence, and build strong companies.
Women entrepreneurs often face challenges like a lack of access to useful networks, limited training, and fewer opportunities to meet investors. Through this program, they will get access to expert faculty, business mentors, industry speakers, and practical workshops. The training will include lessons in leadership, business planning, finance, marketing, and understanding customer needs.
Goldman Sachs already operates a celebrated global program known as “10,000 Women”, designed to provide vital support to women-led businesses across the world. In partnership with the IIMs in India, the program will be more effective because of their strong academic systems and real-world industry connections.
Participants will also have an opportunity to interact with successful entrepreneurs and hear about their journeys. They will also join a strong network of alumni that will allow them, in the future, to find the right partners, collaborators, or even investors.
Another important objective of the program is to encourage job creation. Women-led startups have proved that they tend to employ more women, building a better gender balance in the workforce. Assisting woman founders eventually strengthens the entire economy.
