New Delhi: The fintech industry has produced numerous unicorns in India, yet not all is well as the founders and investors are becoming increasingly strained. The issues of decision control are gaining increasing significance as companies get larger.
The founders usually begin by having a vision. They are risk takers and zero based products. However, with investors in the field, it comes with money and expectation. Investors demand returns, stability and on occasion, control of decisions in leadership.
Internal disagreements have been experienced in a number of fintech startups in the recent months. The founders are being requested by the investors to concentrate on profits rather than expansion. Founders, however, are afraid of a lack of freedom and long-term vision.
