Bengaluru: One of India’s largest hospital chains, Gurgaon-based Fortis Healthcare, has announced its plans to acquire Bengaluru’s People Tree Hospital for approximately ₹430 crore, a move that will allow it to scale up the number of beds in the city to 1,500 from 900 currently. This addition is part of Fortis’s strategy to expand its footprint in key urban areas, especially in tertiary and speciality care services.
People Tree Hospital, located in Bengaluru’s Yeshwanthpur locality, is owned by TMI Healthcare Pvt Ltd. Fortis’ wholly-owned subsidiary International Hospital Limited (IHL) will buy 100% of TMI Healthcare, the company said in a statement.
Over the next three years, Fortis aims to invest an additional ₹410 crore to further expand People Tree’s infrastructure, including beds, medical equipment, clinical programs and specialised solutions. It will also acquire an adjacent land parcel of 0.8 acres to expand capacity to over 300 beds.
“The acquisition is in line with our vision to expand our footprint in focused clusters and enables us to leverage the benefits of scale and synergies,” Fortis Healthcare MD and CEO Ashutosh Raghuvanshi said.
The transaction for the deal is expected to close by January 2026. Over the last three years, Fortis has added over 1,800 beds to its capacity, becoming one of India’s top hospital chains. It currently has around 5,700 beds across 33 hospitals in India.
