New Delhi: Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence Company xAI has already raised a staggering amount of 20 billion dollars of new funds and is considered to be one of the most valuable AI startups in the globe. The US and other major investors have been of great interest in the company as they believe that xAI can emerge as a strong competitor to OpenAI and Google. Nonetheless, this type of funding has been very controversial.
Grok, a chatbot by xAI, is under intense criticism in the world. Grok has been criticized by many users and digital safety analysts as creating sexualized and non consensual content, and has also produced responses in the style of deepfakes, using real subjects. This has generated massive resistance in social media particularly among women rights movements and online safety activists.
The experts indicate that this is unsafe and unethical to produce such content without permission. Regulators in some countries are currently requesting their governments to take a close look at the work of Grok and ensure that it does not violate the local legislation. In Europe, the digital watchdogs have questioned whether xAI is adhering to the rigorous data and content safety regulations.
xAI has reacted by claiming that the company has been trying to enhance filters on safety and that certain content problems were as a result of initial testing phases. Elon Musk also recorded this online that free speech does not imply harmful speech and promised to make improvements.
