New Delhi: Tesla and X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk has once more made the internet abuzz. This time, however, it is not rockets or electric vehicles, but two very sensitive issues, declining birth rates and migrant-related crimes. His recent social media statements have created hot debates from Copenhagen to London.
A viral video from Denmark recently caught a heated argument between a Pakistani citizen and a local Dane. During the video, the migrant makes bold statements that immigrant families, with their greater birth rates, will soon outnumber native Danes. “We have got five children and you have only one or two,” he states, continuing that in ten years or so, Pakistanis will outnumber Danes in the nation.
Elon Musk replied with bluntness on X: “His math is correct.”
That single sentence was enough to revive global discussions on demographics. Musk has long been warning that falling birth rates, rather than overpopulation, are the true crisis of the day. He argues that declining populations can bring economic woes, labour shortages, and even be a threat to the cultural balance of nations.
Curiously, Musk frequently cites nations such as Japan, South Korea and Italy as the best examples of population collapse. He even once said that “AI is the only hope” to counteract the decline in working-age individuals, as automation could take up the slack where human labor is lacking.

Musk on UK Migrant Crime Case:
In a separate incident, Musk reacted strongly to reports of a Pakistani asylum seeker, Karman Khan, accused of raping an eight-year-old girl in the UK. The case, which has shocked many, will go to trial in 2026.
On X, Musk asked a direct question: “If horrifically raping a small child doesn’t result in deportation, what does?”
He continued, drawing on past accounts such as the Rotherham affair, where 1,400 children were sexually abused between 1997 and 2013. Musk went so far as to give voice to allegations that authorities in dozens of towns had “turned a blind eye” in such scandals.
Today, it’s possible some will write off Musk’s comments as another publicity stunt. But his words have a way of going far. With more than 150 million followers on X, Musk’s words set narratives in motion on multiple continents.
In this instance, he is presenting two uncomfortable realities:
Demographic change is real and declining birth rates can transform countries more quickly than most see. Immigration and law enforcement gaps are real, and pretending they don’t exist could create bigger social tensions.
As usual, Musk does not mince words. And perhaps that is why his remarks hurt. Regardless of whether one agrees with him or not, he is making governments and the people question questions that usually get avoided.
