New Delhi: Elon Musk, a tech billionaire, is under fire once again and this time against the management style he has and how he manages his businesses. Musk has both his supporters and opponents in equal measures because he is known to be bold in thought and quick in action.
Musk owns several business such as Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media company X. Accorring to critics, too much power is held in the hands of a single individual. They think that significant choices are usually made in haste without adequate consultations.
The workers in some of his firms have lamented about excessive working hours and abrupt changes of policies. At X, there were changes in several rules and laying off of staff which left users and advertisers confused. Other large brands even suspended advertisements because of ambiguous rules on content.
According to supporters, the reason behind his success is due to the strict control of Musk. They say that innovation requires a robust leadership particularly in such areas as the space and electric vehicles. Tesla and SpaceX would not have where they are without the risk-taking character of Musk.
But analysts remind that leadership approach is more significant with the expansion of the companies. Millions of users and employees require systems and not strong personalities in a company.
The other issue is the way Musk utilizes the social media. The posts he posts tend to influence the stock prices and the opinion of the people. Regulators are keeping a close eye to determine whether his words are violating any rule.
