New Delhi: A newly released global study reveals that climate change is rated as the top risk that businesses fear in 2025. Unpredictable weather and environmental problems are cited by companies from different industries, including agriculture, finance, tourism, transport, and manufacturing, as growing threats every year.
It has triggered heatwaves, floods, droughts, and storms in many nations, including India. Such disasters destroy crops and disturb the supply chains, thus affecting the power supply and considerably increasing the costs of doing business. Many companies now say that they spend more money on protection, insurance, and backup.
Results from the study indicate that businesses fear for their long-term sustainability. Continuously rising temperatures will make it challenging to sustain stable operations. For instance, factories will need to be shut down during extremely hot temperatures; farmers will suffer crop losses due to drought, while floods will delay transport systems.
Another major concern is government regulations. Countries around the world are making strict climate rules. Companies that do not follow eco-friendly practices may be levied with heavy fines or even lose their customers. Younger consumers also prefer brands that care about the environment.
Many companies invest in green technology, renewable energy, and more efficient machinery to manage these risks. Others are using remote work systems to reduce travel.
