Bengaluru: EV two-wheeler major Ather Energy is all set to launch its new mass market scooter as the company looks to grab a larger share of the growing two-wheeler EV market. Until now, Ather has been working largely in the premium EV segment, with all of its models based on its existing Ather 450 platform.
Though the Bengaluru-based company has an 18.6% market share in the EV two-wheeler segment, it faces intense competition from the likes of Ola Electric, Bajaj, and other players. The company had unveiled the development of the next-generation EL platform at its 2025 Ather Community Day Event and is expected to showcase the first scooter developed on it at this year’s event on August 29.
Through the EL platform, Ather is aiming to introduce new-age innovations across the board, engineering the platform from the ground up for greater scalability, versatility, and manufacturing efficiency. The first scooter based on the platform is expected to cost in the ₹1 lakh-₹1.25 lakh price bucket, expanding its total addressable market.
The annual Ather Community Day is aimed at showcasing the brand’s achievements, milestones and commitments, with last year’s event welcoming more than 4,000 people.
This year, the event ‘will bring together thousands of Ather owners, automotive and technology enthusiasts, and partners for a first look at the products, technologies, and experiences that Ather has been building’ the company said in a press release, besides introducing its Redux concept vehicle, its next-generation fast charging technology and its AtherStack 7.0 platform for the company’s next phase of innovation.
