Anupam Rasayan to venture into the US with its $150 million Jayhawk Fine Chemicals acquisition

Mumbai: Specialty chemicals maker Anupam Rasayan India has announced its acquisition of US-based Jayhawk Fine Chemicals in a deal worth $150 million. This move aims to help the Surat-based company to expand its manufacturing presence outside India, with an aim to diversify beyond its strengths in agrochemicals.

Jayhawk Fine Chemicals, a subsidiary of specialty chemicals firm CABB, is known for its expertise in manufacturing chemicals crucial for electronics including smartphones, EVs, aerospace components and 5G equipment. The company has a wide portfolio of long standing clients for high-purity chemicals.

“With Jayhawk, we move forward in the value chain, closer to the end applications, manufacturing key N-1 molecules for these critical sectors. The addition of Jayhawk’s U.S. operations significantly strengthens our global footprint and positions us closer to strategic customers in developed markets”, Anand Desai, Managing Director, Anupam Rasayan India said.

For Anupam, this acquisition will help it expand into the US, helping it connect with leading multinational customers. It will also help to upgrade its polymer portfolio with premium products like polyimide intermediaries and anhydrides.

Along with this, Jayhawk comes with a massive three-million-square-meter land bank, where the company is currently using just 15-20% for its manufacturing facilities. Anupam is now expected to use this to manufacture N-1 molecules for critical sectors.

Jayhawk currently operates with about 20% margins, while Anupam’s margins are between 25-28%.

Anupam Rasayan is currently valued at ₹15,027 crores, with its share prices rising more than 71% this year. This acquisition could help the company scale up well for the future, helping it drive revenue growth and boost valuations.
