Anil Ambani-led Reliance Defence secures an export contract order worth ₹600 crore

New Delhi: Reliance Defence, a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure, has secured a ₹600 crore export order from Germany-based Rheinmetall Waffe Munition. This contract has helped the Anil Ambani-led company cement its presence as a reliable partner in the ammunition and defence supply chain in Europe

This development comes after Reliance Infrastructure signed a partnership with Rhinemetall for the supply of propellents and explosives earlier this month.

“The strategic partnership with Rheinmetall brings cutting-edge capabilities to India and represents a defining milestone for the country’s private defence manufacturing sector. Guided by the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, as championed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, our ambition is clear — to position Reliance Defence among the world’s Top 3 defence exporters. Through this, we aim to enable India not only to meet its domestic defence needs with confidence, but also to establish itself as a trusted force in the global defence supply chain.” Anil Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Group, said in a press release.

Reliance Infrastructure’s shares have hit the upper circuit after the news broke out on Wednesday, June 25, rising to ₹404.5, after a close of ₹384.85 from the previous market close.

At the Paris Air Show earlier this month, another Reliance Infrastructure subsidiary, Reliance Aerostructure Limited (RAL) announced a partnership with Dassault Aviation to manufacture Falcon 2000 jets outside of France for the first time.

With these deals, Reliance Defence aims to become one of the top three defence exporters in the country.
