Andhra Pradesh Signs Massive ₹1.1 Lakh Crore Green Energy Deal

Andhra Pradesh has inked a very big deal: the state government signed an MoU worth ₹1.10 lakh crore with Evren and Axis Energy. These firms will invest in green energy projects within AP. In all, 6,500 MW of wind power will be developed, 6,500 MW of solar power, storage systems able to store 6,500 MWh, and a green hydrogen facility that can produce 0.25 million tonnes per year, plus its derivatives.

It was inked ahead of a major summit, the CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam, to show that AP is earnestly keen to emerge as a hub of clean energy. The investment is not about generating additional megawatts of electricity; it’s going to help industries like data centers, green manufacturing, and hydrogen production.

As this plan goes through, AP will increase not only clean power capacity but a lot of jobs too. Wind farm and solar plant construction requires many workers. Besides, green hydrogen is a fuel of the future: it’s clean and can help industries reduce pollution. This move also supports India’s national goals around reducing carbon emissions.

But big challenges are ahead, as building such large infrastructure is not easy. The state will need to make sure there is good land, the right technology, and enough skilled people. Also, the production of green hydrogen is expensive now, so making it cost-effective will be tough. Even if the MoU is signed, the actual work, setting up the plants, connecting them to the grid, and running them, will take many years.

Yet, this agreement is a big stride toward the future of Andhra Pradesh. If executed effectively, it could alter the state’s economy into that of a green energy leader around the globe.
