New Delhi: Amazon has announced an unprecedented cut of 30000 corporate jobs that comes as a surprise to the employees all over the world. That is one of the biggest job cuts in the history of the company, revealing how forcefully the tech industry is taken by Artificial Intelligence and automation.
According to sources close to the company, Amazon is trying to cut costs and make its teams leaner and more efficient. Many departments that required big staffing earlier are now using advanced AI tools that can do these tasks in minutes. Because of this, the company feels that some of the older roles are no longer needed.
The layoffs will cut across employees in the United States, Europe, India, and a number of Asian countries. Many of those workers, who have spent years at Amazon, are concerned about finding new jobs in a market already saturated with layoffs from other tech giants.
Amazon was cited as saying the company would invest more in its cloud business, AI development, and automation systems inside warehouses. These areas require new skills, and the company intends to hire people with strong technical knowledge. However, the number of new jobs is going to be much smaller than the number of jobs being cut.
