New Delhi: The Indian startup ecosystem is buzzing after boAt co-founder and Shark Tank India judge Aman Gupta hinted at what he called “Aman 2.0” in a recent social media post. While Gupta stopped short of revealing details, the teaser has sparked widespread speculation among entrepreneurs, investors and startup enthusiasts about his next major venture.
Over the past decade, Aman Gupta has become one of India’s most recognizable startup faces. Under his leadership, boAt grew from a small audio accessories brand into one of India’s leading wearable and consumer electronics companies. Industry estimates suggest boAt commands a significant share of India’s earwear market and has sold millions of devices across categories including wireless earbuds, smartwatches and speakers.
The “Aman 2.0” reference immediately caught attention because it comes at a time when Gupta’s influence extends far beyond consumer electronics. Through Shark Tank India, he has invested in dozens of startups across sectors ranging from food and beverage to healthtech and D2C brands. Several of these companies have witnessed rapid growth after securing funding and mentorship from the entrepreneur.
Startup founders believe the teaser could indicate a larger role in venture investing, a new technology-focused initiative, or even a platform aimed at helping early-stage entrepreneurs. Others speculate that Gupta may be exploring opportunities in artificial intelligence, creator economy businesses or digital consumer experiences, segments that have attracted significant investor interest over the last two years.
India’s startup ecosystem itself has matured considerably. The country now has more than 1.5 lakh recognized startups and over 100 unicorns. Despite a temporary slowdown in venture funding globally, investors continue to show interest in scalable consumer-focused businesses with strong unit economics.
Marketing experts note that Gupta has successfully built a personal brand that resonates with young entrepreneurs. His ability to combine business insights with relatable social media communication has helped him maintain relevance in an increasingly competitive startup landscape.
