Adani secures $800 Million loan for data center expansion after US drops charges

New Delhi: Gautam Adani’s business holding company has obtained a $800M loan to aid its initiatives in data centers which are seen as a crucial future enterprise for the digital infrastructure sector. The capital injection follows US criminal charges against Adani being dropped, as it helped resolve a major blockage in his plans for expansion on the global stage.

The loan is believed to be a supply of new funds to Adani as the firm keeps investing heavily in data centers and AI gear. As the demand for cloud-based services, AI computing and digital services continues to rise, data centers are now an important niche for investment.

It is a big development as Adani’s ability to access foreign funding has been under pressure since the US criminal case. The case, which was tied to claims of a solar-power contracts bribery scheme, had been a hot issue for investors and lenders. The charges have been denied by the Adani Group.

In May 2026, the US case was dropped, with the court ruling that the criminal charges be dropped with prejudice. This ousts the possibility of a Tag Team bringing the case back again with the same criminal case. It lifted a significant legal uncertainty hanging over the group’s overseas plans.

The latest loan offer indicates that international lenders are increasingly comfortable in funding Adani – related projects. In addition, it provides the organization with additional space to pursue plans to construct large-scale digital infrastructure.

A few times, Adani has been stepping up its involvement with data centers in India. The group has signed up with some global businesses to construct large-scale facilities and has ambitious plans to increase data center capacity and to use renewable energy power sources. It is collaborating with Jabil, for instance, to help make tools for India’s data centers powered by artificial intelligence.

The firm is also collaborating with EdgeConneX to expand its data center network footprint in India. The original plan was to establish plants in various cities, including Chennai, Noida, Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata and Bengaluru, with plans to achieve up to 1GW of capacity by 2030.

The end of the U.S. criminal case and new financing could pave the way for Adani to put its expansion plans into effect. It can also give it increased investor confidence as it seeks to raise additional funds for investments for infrastructure.

The $800 million loan is more than just new money. The move coincides with Adani’s efforts to consolidate its global data center and AI infrastructure’s stance while also attempting to restore investor and lender trust.
