Adani Group approves plan to merge ACC, Orient Cement with Ambuja Cement

Mumbai: The Adani Group has approved the consolidation of all its cement makers with Ambuja Cements, amalgamating ACC and Orient Cement into Ambuja, a move aimed at creating a pan-India cement brand.

According to the company, this merger would help deliver cost efficiencies and operational synergies, boosting the company’s margins by at least ₹100 per tonne across regions. The consolidation is also aimed at streamlining logistics, procurement and distribution, while eliminating overlapping operations across the three entities.

Post merger, the combined entity will have a capacity of 107 million tonnes per annum, while the company’s brands ‘Adani Ambuja Cements’ and ‘Adani ACC’ will operate as usual.

“By bringing Ambuja Cements, ACC, and Orient Cement under a single corporate structure, we are strengthening our ability to drive operational excellence, accelerate growth, and deliver sustainable long-term value. This merger builds on our already proven track record to further position the business to drive efficiency and productivity,” Karan Adani, Non-Executive Director, Ambuja Cements, Adani Group said.

The merger is expected to be completed by January 1, 2026.

The Adani Group is a relative newcomer to the cement industry. It has emerged as the largest cement producer in the country in record time through acquisitions. The company now aims to expand its capacity eventually to 140 MTPA, primarily by expanding current operations.

Adani jumped into the fray through its 2022 acquisition of Ambuja Cements and ACC Limited from Swiss firm Holcim. That was followed by smaller companies like Saurashtra-based Sanghi Industries in 2023, and Hyderabad-based Penna Cement and Orient Cement in 2024.
