Acutaas Chemicals inaugurates semiconductor materials plant in South Korea to enable technology synergies

Gongju, South Korea, August 28: Specialty chemical manufacturer Acutaas Chemicals Limited has commissioned a new semiconductor-grade materials plant in Gongju, South Korea through its step-down subsidiary Indichem.

Built with an estimated investment of ₹200 crore, the facility has been built within a short period of 11 months, allowing Acutaas Chemicals to get closer to its clients in the semiconductor sector.

The semiconductor materials plant will supply semiconductor grade chemicals from raw materials refined, tested and qualified to semiconductor grade levels for final use in local microchip and display fabrication facilities.

Using raw materials synthesized in India, the plant allows Acutaas Chemicals to get deeply integrated into the semiconductor supply chain, through its 75:25 subsidiary Indichem with  South Korea-based J & Materials Co. Ltd.

“We are thrilled to inaugurate the Gongju plant just eleven months after breaking ground, reflecting the exceptional discipline brought by both partners. By combining India’s core strengths in complex chemical synthesis with Korea’s expertise in ultra-high-purity refining, we have built a synergistic model that neither company could have executed alone. This marks a vital step in scaling our semiconductor materials business into a long-term growth engine for Acutaas.”  Mr. Naresh Patel, Chairman & Managing Director, Acutaas Chemicals Limited, said in a press release.

“What began as a shared ambition between two companies is now an operational, state-of-the-art facility. Our approach has been the same from day one: we are not asking our customers to come to India — we are bringing India to Korea. I believe this is a starting point of long journey in this partnership of creating one of the leading semiconductor materials company in Republic of Korea.” Mr. Jay Han, Chief Executive Officer, Indichem Inc, added.
