Cotton Plus expanded Retail Growth with Dr. Vivek Bindra and Bada Business Private Limited

Mumbai: Cotton Plus, a Navi Mumbai-based garment retail chain founded by Mr. Bindeshwar Gupta, continues to build its presence in the everyday fashion segment with a focus on comfort, affordability, and practicality. Catering to men, women, and children, the brand offers a wide range of cotton shirts, kurtis, casual wear, and kids’ clothing designed for daily use. Its product mix is aligned with the needs of urban families who prioritize breathable fabrics and functional styles suited to local weather conditions.

With stores located in Seawoods, Kharghar, and Vashi, Cotton Plus has established itself as a dependable neighborhood retail destination. The company’s in-store experience emphasizes ease of browsing, accessible pricing, and the ability for customers to try and select garments without pressure. Over the years, this approach has helped the brand build steady customer trust and repeat footfall across its locations.

To address operational bottlenecks and prepare for expansion, Cotton Plus entered into a structured collaboration with Bada Business Private Limited, guided by business coach Dr. Vivek Bindra.

The objective of this collaboration was to improve backend efficiency, particularly in inventory planning, vendor management, and demand alignment, while enabling the business to scale in a controlled and sustainable manner.

Before the collaboration, Cotton Plus was operating with inefficiencies that limited its growth potential.

The stock-to-sales ratio stood at 8x, indicating a high volume of inventory relative to actual sales. This resulted in excess capital being locked in stock, along with increased risks of unsold or outdated merchandise. The inventory turnover ratio was also low at 2 to 3 times annually, suggesting slower product movement and limited responsiveness to changing customer preferences.

With three operational stores and decent annual sales, the business maintained stability but lacked the operational agility required for rapid expansion.

Post collaboration under a Cash Growth Program (CGP), Cotton Plus has reported a series of measurable improvements across its operations.

The stock-to-sales ratio has been reduced from 8x to 2.5x, reflecting tighter inventory control and improved stock efficiency. This shift has enabled the company to reduce holding costs and improve the speed at which products move from shelves to customers. At the same time, the inventory turnover ratio has increased to 5 to 6 times per year, indicating faster rotation of goods and stronger alignment with market demand.

These outcomes were achieved through the implementation of structured operational strategies. Cotton Plus adopted FSN-based inventory classification, allowing it to identify fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-moving products with greater accuracy. This classification enabled more focused purchasing decisions and reduced investment in underperforming stock. A detailed stock audit further helped correct inconsistencies in inventory records and improved overall data reliability.

In addition, the company shifted from a bulk procurement model to a demand-driven buying approach. This ensured that inventory levels were aligned with actual sales patterns, reducing the likelihood of overstocking. Vendor rationalization also contributed to improved efficiency, as the business streamlined its supplier base and strengthened relationships with vendors who consistently delivered high-performing products.

With a more efficient operational framework in place, Cotton Plus is now focused on scaling its retail footprint.

The company has outlined plans to expand from three stores to more than ten locations, increasing its reach across Navi Mumbai and nearby markets.

Alongside this expansion, annual revenue is projected to 200% supported by improved inventory productivity and higher sales conversion.

In addition to strategic direction, Cotton Plus was supported by a dedicated team of consultants who conducted a detailed diagnosis of the business.

Core operational and revenue bottlenecks were identified, and targeted solutions were implemented across key areas. This ensured that every intervention was aligned with measurable outcomes and long-term scalability.

Speaking on the impact of the collaboration, Mr. Bindeshwar Gupta stated

“The changes we have implemented have made our operations more structured and predictable. We are now better equipped to manage inventory, respond to demand, and plan our expansion with clarity.”

The transformation of Cotton Plus reflects the role of structured business interventions in improving retail efficiency. By aligning operations with data-driven strategies, the company has strengthened its foundation for growth while continuing to deliver practical and comfortable clothing solutions to its customers.
