Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], April 19: A couple from Bangalore has found a unique way to combine their love of weddings and their passion for charitable causes. Sathiyanarayanan and Bhuvaneshwari, co-founders of Raj Square Charity Foundation, have started organizing marriages as part of community development for the last 10 years.
The idea came to them after they got married themselves, and they were overwhelmed by the generosity of their friends and family. “We realised that we could use our love of weddings to give back to our community and help those in need,” Sathiyanarayanan said.
Dr Mithileysh, a scientist, son of the couple, set up a charity foundation informally in 2010 to support a lot of young children; later, the charity foundation was officially registered in 2020. In fond loving memory of their aunt, Smt Selvi, the couple started Selvi Matrimonial Support (SMS) to connect couples and started guiding them on how to lead a happy married life. The couple supports various families in organising the marriage, from simple ceremonies to elaborate weddings and work with couples and their family members to customise their special day.
The couple’s first community-support wedding was held in 2017, and it was a huge success. The bride and groom, both local residents, were thrilled with how their special day turned out. “It was the perfect wedding, and their support was highly incredible,” the bride said. ” Sathiya uncle and Bhuvaneshwari aunty are so caring. They have a pure heart, and it is wonderful we got connected with them.”
Since then, the couple has conducted several more weddings. They hope to expand their support and offer weddings as part of a larger fundraising effort for other charitable causes as well.
“We feel blessed to be able to use our time, talent and passion for weddings to make a difference in people’s lives,” Bhuvaneshwari said. “It’s an honour to be part of such a special day, and even more so when we know it’s for a good cause. We also guide and motivate all young couples to be a part of charitable causes, so it gives them an extra sense of purpose and meaning in life.
