New Delhi, September 30: The Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is gearing up to undertake Special Campaign 6.0 from 2nd to 31st October 2026. The Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters has been organised annually since 2021 with the objective of institutionalising Swachhata, reducing pendency, strengthening record management, promoting responsible disposal of e-waste and ensuring optimum utilisation of office space across Government offices.
Special Campaign 6.0 will place particular emphasis on “Effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste”. The campaign is being undertaken in two phases, with the Preparatory Phase from 15th to 30th September 2026, followed by the Implementation Phase from 2nd to 31st October 2026.
During the Preparatory Phase, the Department is undertaking identification of pending references received from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), VIPs, State Governments and matters relating to Parliament Assurances. The Department is also assessing the volume of redundant materials to be disposed of and finalising procedures for their disposal. In line with the focus of the campaign, measures are also being undertaken for effective collection and segregation of e-waste in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), with targets being finalised for the Implementation Phase.
The Preparatory Phase is also focusing on strengthening record management and space management practices across the Department and its organisations. These measures are aimed at ensuring systematic disposal of redundant materials, efficient utilisation of available office space and strengthening institutional practices related to cleanliness and resource management.
The Department has already undertaken measures towards effective e-waste management and digitisation of records. E-waste from Shastri Bhawan was auctioned in December 2025, generating revenue of ₹2,35,100. Further, scanning and digitisation of physical files and records was completed in January 2026.
Building on the achievements of previous years, the Department of Youth Affairs, along with its attached office, subordinate offices including field offices and autonomous body, is fully geared up to roll out Special Campaign 6.0. The Department remains committed to strengthening Swachhata practices, reducing pendency, improving record and space management, and ensuring responsible management and disposal of e-waste.
