New Delhi: Tata Digital is repositioning its digital strategy as India’s consumer internet market moves towards a greater focus on customer retention, financial services and profitability. Its flagship platform, Tata Neu, is being reshaped from a broad commerce aggregator into a more loyalty-led ecosystem with greater emphasis on financial services.
Tata Digital was established to bring together the Tata group’s consumer businesses through digital platforms. Tata Neu combines services and brands across categories including grocery, electronics, fashion, travel, pharmacy, payments and financial services.
The scale of the underlying businesses remains substantial. Tata Sons’ FY2025 annual report reported Tata Digital revenue of ₹32,188 crore, with the company operating across electronics, food and grocery, pharmacy, fashion, travel and hospitality, financial services and payments. Its NeuPass loyalty programme had more than 140 million members at the time of the report.
However, Tata Digital’s financial performance has also highlighted the challenge of building a large multi-category digital platform. In FY2026, the company’s losses widened to ₹4,974 crore, even as revenue increased nearly 12% to ₹35,990 crore, according to reported financial data. The accumulated losses were reported at around ₹9,600 crore.
Against this backdrop, Tata Digital is changing the role of Tata Neu. Chief Executive Officer Sajith Sivanandan said in April 2026 that the platform would focus more heavily on loyalty and financial services, including payments, investments and insurance, rather than attempting to function simply as a broad commerce aggregator.
