New Delhi: Motorola pulled the curtain back on its new flagship, the motorola signature 27, at the Snapdragon Summit on September 22. The phone arrives as one of the first devices built around Qualcomm’s freshly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, and Motorola is billing it as the most advanced handset the company has ever built.
It’s also a naming shift. The signature 27 is the second phone in Motorola’s ultra-premium signature line, and it kicks off a new numbering system tied to the coming year so expect a signature 28 next time around, rather than a random model number.
On the performance side, Motorola says the phone pairs that new chipset with a redesigned cooling setup called ArcticMesh diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a vapor chamber that’s 40% larger than before aimed at keeping things cool through heavy gaming or extended AI use. The company is also promising seven years of OS and security updates, a commitment that’s become something of a flagship standard now.
AI is obviously the centerpiece of the pitch. Google’s Gemini is built in, with tools like Gemini Omni for turning prompts or footage into edited video, and Lyria for AI-generated music and soundtracks.
Camera-wise, the signature 27 packs a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, with an AI-driven Video Enhancement Engine that adjusts color and exposure in real time while recording. Motorola’s also leaning on Qualcomm’s image stabilization tech alongside 3.5-degree OIS hardware for smoother handheld video.
Audio gets a notable upgrade too this is the first Motorola phone to carry Bang & Olufsen tuning, following the companies’ multi-year partnership announced earlier this month.
Design-wise, it comes in two finishes: a woven “Coal Smoke” texture inspired by automotive and performance wear, and a softer “Capulet Olive” brushed textile finish which is mainly focused at a more fashion-forward crowd.
Motorola hasn’t released any pricing or a firm release date details. The company stated that the signature 27 is expected to launch globally sometime in 2026, with more details to come closer to launch.
